SOUTH CANTERBURY MUSEUM DEVELOPMENT TRUST
Adding value to our heritage
The Trust has created a track record of supporting projects that bring our region’s unique heritage to a wider audience.
The Trust was established in 1997 to act as a charitable trust raising funds to assist with major projects at the South Canterbury Museum, and to provide support for other museums in the Timaru District. In the years that have followed it has raised over $600,000 for various projects that have benefitted the South Canterbury Museum, our community and heritage in general. The Trust’s charitable status means that donors receive receipts for their donations that may be used for tax purposes.

The Trust has six trustees who meet regularly to ensure that suitable projects are planned and supported, and to generally make things happen. Our trustees bring a mix of skills and experiences that help shape how we can support heritage endeavours.
