Our region’s heritage will be on show on Stafford Street – and the South Canterbury Museum Development Trust is helping to create something incredible.

The Timaru District Council is building a new world-class museum exhibition and education space beside the Theatre Royal. This is scheduled to be completed in mid-2025. The South Canterbury Museum team are planning to create incredible international-quality exhibitions inside this new facility that will wow locals and visitors alike. These exhibitions will tell our region’s stories and become a must-see experience that will put Timaru and our region on the map.

Our Trust is supporting this exhibition project, and we’re well on the way towards reaching the $3 million target needed to create something incredible inside this new facility, but we’ll need some help. Find out more about what we’re planning and how you can be part of it.
