Philp Howe

Philp was born and raised in Timaru, leaving for five years of tertiary study before returning to begin a career as a primary school teacher. This career was happily disrupted three years in when Philip was appointed the inaugural Director of South Canterbury Museum in 1989. In the years that have followed, Philip has been privileged to oversee the Museum’s physical and organisational development, and its establishment as a crucial educational and community resource. A foundation member of the SC Museum Development Trust, Philip continues to be excited by the potential for this museum to play a role in enhancing our community, attracting visitors to the region and being a heritage resource that every can enjoy and be proud of.
