John Oliver

John was born and raised in New Plymouth, and moved to the Mainland in 1969. He is a carpenter and before retiring, spent his whole working life in the building industry, including 12 years as a Building Inspector with the then Ministry of Works and Development. He was a foundation trustee member of the Museum Development Trust and has been on the Board ever since. He was involved with the initial scanning and computerisation of the Museums glass negatives  and early photos, and also the development of the original database for searching those photos. His other interests include historic buildings and preservation, building miniatures and 3D printing. He is also a volunteer with the Cancer Society and the Blind Low Vision NZ.
